Kentucky Fried Chicken has refined the art of the secret recipe with its closely guarded 11 herbs and spices in its chicken. Now, it's officially given birth to another secret recipe — this one for its new fries.
KFC confirmed in an email to this website that it rolled out its new Secret Recipe fries nationally this week, which followed tests in more than 200 markets for the Louisville, Kentucky-based chain. A brand spokeswoman called the results "overwhelmingly positive."
Unlike the brand's longtime potato wedges that were recently removed from the chain's menus, KFC's Secret Recipe fries look a lot like the so-called shoestring-cut fries that are more common to the QSR landscape, but the chain said they are extra-thick cut and coated in seasoning via a "batter system."
The wedges they replaced were a kind of cult classic for some KFC customers, who bemoaned their loss across social media.
Change is hard.
