Sonic Drive-In is putting some spice into its latest LTO, while putting funds into education through its two latest endeavors: a Queso Burger LTO and $1 million donation to Limeades for Learning, according to separate news releases.

The LTO includes a quarter-pound patty, with cheddar and a cheese sauce made with Hatch Green Chiles, all topped with grilled onions and mayo on a toasted bakery bun for $3.99.

"We enhanced the comforting flavor of melty queso with the sweet, spicy and smoky flavor of real Hatch Green Chiles to deliver that elusive, satisfying umami in an irresistible burger," Scott Uehlein, vice president of product innovation and development for SONIC, said in the release.

Meantime, the brand is also putting something cool in the hands of public school teachers at its locations on Teacher Appreciation Day Tuesday — $1 million matching donation made through DonorsChoose for Limeades for Learning, to help teachers meet students' distance learning needs.

"Teachers across the country face new and complex challenges to keep their students learning right now," Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations for Sonic, said in the release. "Sonic will match every donation to DonorsChoose to help teachers with distance learning, up to $1 million. Through the donation match, we will collectively be able to help teachers obtain resources for their students and will continue to empower them throughout the year."

Sonic's $1 million donation match happens on Teacher Appreciation Day this Tuesday. Sonic guests can visit DonorsChoose and donate to one or more of the thousands of public school teacher requests seeking support in providing their students with essential education resources. Sonic will match each donation dollar for dollar, up to $1 million.
