Sonic LTO 'shakes' up espresso-lovers

Sonic is hitting the nation's super-sized contingent of espresso and sweets lovers with a double-whammy this month with Espresso Shakes LTO. The super-charged concoctions are available in original with a double shot of espresso and vanilla ice cream or Oreo espresso with pieces of the famous black-and-white cookie mixed in, according to a news release.
"Our guests can really taste the bold, java flavor in the double-shot of espresso and the sweet and creamy flavor of the ice cream," Scott Uehlein, Sonic vice president of product innovation and development for Sonic. "This is the perfect pairing in the moments that our guests are in search of that irresistible pick-me-up in their day."
And to stand by that promise of a caffeine kick, Sonic relayed that its medium espresso shake has 112 milligrams. of caffeine. That compares with the average for a medium cup of coffee, which according to Healthline is about 95 milligrams.
Sonic has more than 3,500 restaurants in 46 states and is part of Atlanta-based Inspire Brands.
