Sonic shows its bubbly side in latest LTO

Sonic's newest beverage offerings look a lot like the popular bubble or boba tea drinks initially introduced in Taiwan, but the similarities stop there. In fact, Sonic said its Bursting Bubbles drinks are actually slushes that come populated with bubbles that act like tiny flavor blasts.

The fizzy LTO drinks come in either Blue Burst with blue raspberry-flavored soda and Bursting Bubbles, or the Cherry Burst with cherry-flavored soda and Bursting Bubbles, according to a press release. But, Sonic added that the Bursting Bubbles can also be added to any drink or slush on its menu

"With Bursting Bubbles, we captured iconic Sonic flavors into sippable bursts that make cooling off on those hot summer days and nights even more fun," Scott Uehlein, Sonic vice president of product innovation and development, said in the release. "As the go-to summer destination for refreshment, we're always innovating our unique Drink and Slush offerings. Now guests can take their tastebuds on a sweet, exciting adventure with each pop of flavor."

The LTOs are available through Aug. 1 at Sonic's 3,500 restaurants in 46 states.
