Sonic 'twists' things up with new snack

In further proof of the popularity of snack items on the QSR front, Sonic Drive-In said it is expanding its snack lineup by adding sweet pretzel twists, a news release said. 

The new offerings are cinnamon-sugar variations on the salted soft pretzel twist, served with cream cheese frosting. 

"The savory version of the Soft Pretzel Twist is so popular because it's a perfect snack or side," Sonic Vice President of Product Innovation and Development Scott Uehlein said in the release. "Our guests are busy, and they don't always have the time or desire to sit down and enjoy a full meal. Now with the addition of our Sweet Pretzel Twist, we're able to offer even more snackable options to satisfy any sweet or salty craving."

The new twists are priced at $1.99 at the chain's 3,600-plus locations nationwide.
