Sonic ups media spending to $200 million

Marketing Daily: Sonic Corp. plans to increase its media budget to more than $200 million for the next fiscal year, a 5 percent increase over the past year and a 67 percent increase since 2005. The company said recently that about half of that bundle would be in national cable, which has helped it efficiently reach new markets as it expands beyond its Southern base.
The spending jump comes even as the chain posted only slight growth — 0.9 percent — in same-store sales for the fiscal year.
