Starbird wings it and raises $5 mil

September 29, 2016

Starbird, a premium fast food concept, raised nearly $5 million during its second round of funding, according to a company press release. The group of investors, including Greg Dollarhyde of Baja Fresh and Zoe's kitchen, consists of several restaurant CEOs and Dollarhyde's own private investment arm, Dollarhyde Investment Group III.

"We are excited to announce this next phase of development and to have Greg involved," President and CEO Aaron Noveshen said in the release. "At Starbird we are working to transform the dull fast food landscape by utilizing super premium ingredients and evolving the traditional drive-thru experience with our mobile ordering and car-side delivery app. The response from the community has been extremely positive and we are thrilled to expand to a larger audience."

Starbird was created by The Culinary Edge and the concept's first unit opened in June 2016 in Sunnyvale, California, with another location due next year in Foster City, according to the release.
