'Starbucks of Cannabis' competition lighting up

The AmeriCanna Café is a destination beverage company designed for consumers to access information about the benefits of cannabis.

June 17, 2015

North American Cannabis Holdings, Inc. has unveiled The AmeriCanna Café, a new subsidiary founded on the results of an earlier pilot program, the company announced in a press release.

The AmeriCanna Café is a destination beverage company designed for consumers to access information about the benefits of cannabis through interactions with trained staff. Consumers can learn about the company's selection of cannabis-infused beverages, including custom blended hemp infused coffee, cold pressed juices and smoothies. The company also carries raw hemp seeds and other hemp infused foods and plans to add more THC foods and beverages as state and federal law permits.

"Ex-Microsoft executive, Jamen Shively, will have some competition in becoming the 'Starbucks of [Cannabis],'" North American Cannabis Holdings CEO Steven Rash said in a statement. "We've learned a few things in our beverage pilot that we believe give us an edge in the cannabis destination beverage market, not to mention a pending acquisition that once finalized, we believe will give us yet another leg up."

The AmeriCanna Café subsidiary intends to expand through a national franchise model incorporating North American Cannabis Holdings' existing DuBe Hemp Energy drink distribution business, its Hippie Butter joint venture and the pending acquisition of a fitness café operation serving nutritional food and beverages.

The AmeriCanna Café originates from one of a series of pilots starting back in 2013 under North American Cannabis Holdings' American Seed & Oil Company subsidiary. Established to conduct various pilots in the legal cannabis sector, the company explored a variety of high growth business opportunities.

Founders of the target acquisition come from a collection of nutritional experts, fitness consultants and fitness industry professionals. North American Cannabis Holdings has worked with the target acquisition to develop the cannabis beverage café over the last year.
