Last week we reported to you about Subway's rift with many of its franchisees over a footlong promotion. This week the brand has raised the ire of quite a few customers after online chatter indicates the brand has discontinued two very popular meat ingredients for its subs including roast beef and rotisserie chicken, according to a blurb first reported by Chewboom. When contacted this morning by QSRweb, a representative with Subway's media firm said the brand had opted not to comment on the matter.
But that did not stop it from spreading across social media and the news was shared, Subway customers let their displeasure be known loud and clear.
Both roast beef and the rotisserie chicken option had hot followings, so what appears to be an announced discontinuation of the two meats was a shock for customers, who often reported ordering the same sandwiches including at least one of those ingredients daily.
The move comes as Subway welcomes back a twist on their popular $5 Footlong deal where you can now get two Footlongs for $5 each when you order two. Subway had not responded to QSRweb's request for comment at the time of this story's publication, but this latest move comes after a very public melee between the brand and many of its franchisees over the 2 for $10 footlong offer, as this website relayed last week. The loss of the popular pair of meat options has now left a lot of customers with bad tastes in their mouths.
Online comments suggest that customers who spoke with Subway franchisees and employees relayed that high prices for the meats prompted the discontinuation.
