Subway healthy menu seals Michael Phelps on partnership

AdAge.com: Eight-time Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Michael Phelps made it clear during the Games that he loved McDonald's, including revealing that the chain's double cheeseburgers were part of his 10,000-calorie-a-day diet.
 
Phelps' agent, Peter Carlisle, said after Phelps signed the promotion deal with Subway that Phelps has always liked a variety of different foods and quick-service restaurants. The Subway deal offered "more of a partnership," and the brand had a more-healthful image. Tony Pace, chief marketing officer for the Subway Advertising Fund Trust, said the brand intends to use the partnership with one of McDonald's most famous admirers to steal its market share.
