The Subway restaurant chain has named seven franchisees as recipients of its 2010 Franchisee of the Year awards, and three members of its development community as recipients of the 2010 Development Agent of the Year awards.
Franchisee of the Year awards are presented to the overall winners of the multi-unit and single-unit owner categories from North America and international markets. The chain has nearly 17,000 franchisees around the world. All Subway restaurants are individually owned and operated by independent franchisees.
The seven recipients are: Abdul Almutairi of Kuwait; Rosangela Moreira of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Bhagyesh Patel and Rimpal Patel of Morinville, Alberta, Canada; Donald Pratt of New Bedford, Mass.; Chia Meng (Peter) Ng of Singapore; and Remi Vergnaud of Annecy, France.
Franchisees of the Year are chosen based on their accomplishments, including adding new stores, building sales and profitability, and achieving excellent store evaluations.
"The franchisee is the heart and soul of the Subway family. We know that our success depends upon their excellence in operating their restaurant and motivating their team to provide the best tasting sandwiches to our customers," said Don Fertman, director of development for the chain.
Recipients of the Development Agent of the Year awards are: Frederico Pereira of Brazil; Kris Perrier of Saskatchewan, Canada; and Skuli Sigfusson of Iceland.
Development agents are chiefly responsible for building and managing a geographical territory, providing their local franchisees with support and expertise to run a successful business.
