Subway to aid construction at Ground Zero
November 16, 2009
Subway is known for its reliance on nontraditional locations. Its newest New York location may be the most nontraditional yet.
A Subway sandwich shop is being installed atop a crane to serve construction workers building the Freedom Tower at the site of the former 1 World Trade Center at New York City's Ground Zero, according to a story in the New York Post.
The shop, which will be fitted into a structure resembling a shipping container, will help construction workers save time and help speed up construction work. The crane — and the restaurant — will rise as construction progresses until reaching 105 floors in late 2011.
