Subway to sponsor Oregon marathon
April 22, 2007
EUGENE, Ore. — Subway restaurants spokesman Jared Fogle will be in Eugene, Ore., on April 29 to help kick off the inaugural Subway Eugene Marathon. Fogle, who became famous for losing 245 pounds in one year while eating Subway sandwiches, will fire the starting gun for the main event and lead pre-race stretching for the Subway one mile kids run.

At the finish line, racers will be greeted by Fogle, who will be handing out pieces of a 26.2 foot long sub sandwich in recognition of the 26.2 mile race.

The Subway Eugene Marathon will be the first major destination marathon since the early 1980s to take place in Eugene. The event will include a marathon, half-marathon, five kilometer and one mile kid's run.
