Popeyes hopes to rid its chicken of MSG by 2025, three years later than previously announced, according to a Bloomberg report.
The chain had planned to rid its chicken of the artificial flavor enhancer by the end of this year but said supply chain issues are making it difficult to meet its goal.
Popeyes continues to work toward ridding its menu of artificial flavors, colors and preservatives.
"We are currently testing all-clean ingredients in our batter, breading and sandwiches in a few US markets and we expect to be on track to an all-clean menu nationwide by 2025," Popeyes in a statement to Bloomberg. "We had hoped to achieve this earlier, however our process of testing new ingredients and getting extensive guest feedback on recipe changes has been slowed down by a challenging supply-chain environment.
