TA Restaurant Group serves free meals to past, present soldiers on Independence Day

July 2, 2019

Active-duty military, veterans and reservists can eat free this Independence Day at TA Restaurant Group on-the-road restaurants of Country Pride and Iron Skillet. The two brands are located nationally at TA, Petro Stopping Centers and TA Express shops, operated through TravelCenters of America, a news releases said.

All that's needed to get a special menu meal of their choice is service members' proof of service before ordering including a U.S. Uniformed Services ID card, current Leave and Earnings Statement, veterans organization membership card, DD214 form, a citation or commendation, or even a photograph of the individual in uniform.

"Independence Day stands for freedom and it's our privilege to honor those who have fought for our freedoms," TA Restaurant Group Senior Vice President, Food Operations John Ponczoch, said in the releases. "It's very rewarding for our company and restaurant employees to serve free meals to military men and women on America's birthday. Our servers often hear past and present service members share heartfelt memories about their time in the military revealing the true heroes they are."

The two restaurant brands will also honor those who died during service to the country with Fallen Soldier Tables where a single place setting at an empty table will be set up to represent the wish that the fallen were still here.

Over the years that the two restaurant brands have offered service members free Independence Day meals, more than 50,000 people have been served at TA Restaurant Group's 650 QSR and full service restaurants, including 10 proprietary restaurant brands.
