A story in Canada's Financial Times said that Tuesday, Taco Bell Canada announced it would triple its size in the North American country over the next five to 10 years. The brand said that would increase its outlets there from the current 170 to more than 700 locations nationally.
The introduction of beer at some of the locations comes in the midst of more than five years of slow QSR sales growth in Canada.
In the U.S., the Yum Brands concept has introduced beer, wine, sangria and some frozen alcoholic drinks at its Cantina stores, now totaling six sites. In Canada the brand announced that all 11 locations opening this year will offer beer, while one unit in Saskatoon will test frozen drinks.
