Taco Bell is working to generate some customer love and drive-thru traffic with its plan to give all its drive-thru guests a free Doritos Locos taco, with no purchase necessary, at least while supplies at each location last.

"For the past few weeks, we've been focused on making Taco Bell the safest place to work and eat, and now we're giving America free tacos as a small way of saying thank you for how everyone is showing up for their communities," Taco Bell CEO Mark King, said in the release.

Additionally, the brand said its foundation is donating $1 million to the national No Kid Hungry campaign, focused on a goal of ending childhood hunger in the U.S. The brand said that when guests visit their local Taco Bell drive-thru, participating locations will soon have the option to round up their order total to the nearest dollar, with all funds going to No Kid Hungry.

Two other initiatives the brand is undertaking include:

  • Transforming Taco Bell taco trucks into "mobile commissaries," delivering food to essential workers include those in healthcare, education, grocery stores and others.
  • Developing plan to feed truck and ambulance driver, who currently are unable to order through drive-thrus, due to vehicle height restrictions.
