Taco Bell giving away $1 million at All-Star Game
June 6, 2006
IRVINE, Calif. — Taco Bell, the official quick-service restaurant of MLB, announced it will offer one lucky fan the chance of a lifetime: to take the field on July 11 at Pittsburgh's PNC Park before the 77th MLB All-Star Game with a chance to win $1 million.
Taco Bell's "Swing for a Million" promotion will be held during the pre-game ceremonies with one contestant receiving five attempts to swing away from a tee at home plate and hit one of three targets in the outfield within 30 seconds.
If one well-placed line drive hits any of the targets on the fly — the contestant becomes an instant millionaire.
The "Swing for a Million" is another in a long line of "Think Outside the Bun" promotions Taco Bell has conducted through its partnership with MLB. During previous All-Star Games, Taco Bell held the "Rapid Fire" contest where in 2004, Houston, resident Tom Grey proved to America that he could indeed "throw heat" as he successfully threw five baseballs though a target in 30 seconds, walking away an instant millionaire. No stranger to involving the entire United States in its promotions, Taco Bell also placed its famous "Free Taco" target during the 2004 World Series games in St. Louis.
