Taco Bell menu revamp: Hasta la vista Mexican pizza

After annoucing in July that it was streamlining its menu, Taco Bell released more details Thursday, saying it would eliimante some items but add others by early November, according to a news release.
"We're constantly evaluating ways to provide a more efficient restaurant experience, and have already begun to see progress from streamlining our menu," Taco Bell COO Mike Grams said in the release. "While we know fans may be understandably sad to see some of their favorites go, this evolution of our menu truly paves the way for fresh new ideas. The creativity and innovation in our kitchen hasn't slowed down at all, and we look forward to rolling out new fan favorites."
What's going
- Mexican pizza is saying "hasta la vista," but returning is combo No. 8, which features three Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme and a large drink.
- Pico de gallo will be replaced with fresh diced tomatoes, but diners can now order their food "fresco-style," which replaces nacho cheese sauce, shredded cheese, mayo-based sauces and low-fat sour cream with tomatoes.
- Shredded chicken will no longer be a protein option , which means the shredded chicken soft taco, shredded chicken burrito, and shredded chicken quesadilla melt will go with it on Nov. 5.
Incoming …
- Chicken chipotle melt will be available for $1 starting Nov. 5 nationally.
- Dragonfruit freezes will be available nationwide starting Sept. 24.
- Reformulated green sauce will be on the menu in some areas by Nov. 5.
- Quesalupais returning to Knoxville, Tennessee on Sept. 24 but may eventually appear on nationwide menus.
The brand said that these changes mark the final phase of this year's menu revamp.
