Taco Bell unrolls seasonal surprise, 2 new test items

November 21, 2018

This Wednesday, Nov. 21, Taco Bell is not only unrolling rolled chicken tacos, but also beginning testing of two new menu items in the very different climes of Orange County, California and  Minneapolis, Minnesota, a news release said.

Nationally, the brand is featuring rolled chicken tacos with shredded chicken and a choice of spicy ranch, nacho cheese or guacamole for dipping. The LTOs are available through late December as either a taco tw-pack or four-pack at $1.99 and $3.99, respectively. A $4.99 combo, with four rolled tacos, two dips and a large drink is also available.

Then, in the increasingly freezing city of Minneapolis, the brand is testing its Midnight Melt Taco with a fried blue corn tortilla shell with melted cheeses, seasoned beef, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes. The test item is available a la carte for $1.99, or in a $5 box with taco, beefy five-layer, crunchy taco, cinnamon twists and a medium drink. In this offering diners can substitute black beans for beef.

Farther west and much farther south, Orange County Taco Bells will test the Triplelupa, featuring a three-in-one tear-apart crispy Chalupa with seasoned beef, three-cheese blend, lettuce, tomatoes and nacho cheese on one side, as well as chipotle sauce on the other and both combined in the middle.

That concoction also starts testing Nov. 21, but only will be available through early December at 12 Orange County locations. It's priced at $3.49 a la carte or $5.49 as a combo that also includes a crunchy taco and large drink.
