Taco Del Mar intros eco-friendly packaging
August 24, 2008
SEATTLE — Taco Del Mar and Trellis Earth have announced a joint venture to launch a progressive, green packaging program.
Taco Del Mar is taking a major step in their quest to go "green" by switching most of their current disposable packaging — from utensils to carry out bags, plates and garbage bags — to Trellis Earth products.
Trellis Earth products are made from PLA resin, composed of corn and vegetable starch, and biodegradable polymers. The products also are biodegradable in commercial landfills.
Taco Del Mar worked with Trellis Earth to develop 16 new pieces of packaging. Over the past year, they have extensively tested the materials in two Taco Del Mar restaurants.
