Taco John’s has created the Silver Cup contest – a competition to find the cleanest Taco John’s restaurant in the U.S.
"Our guests expect a clean dining experience. If they don’t find it at Taco John’s, they will look for it somewhere else," CEO Jeff Linville said in a news release "We want this contest to the ‘white glove’ approach to the entire restaurant, inside and out."
According to a recent report from the Mintel Group, cleanliness is the most important consideration when consumers are deciding which restaurant to visit. Taco John’s locations that competed for the Silver Cup were asked to clean the inside of their restaurants and also work on the outward appearance, for example adding new mulch in flower beds, painting the building or putting down new lines in the parking lot, the release said.
The Silver Cup competition started locally. Winning Taco John’s restaurants advanced to state and regional levels. A restaurant in Longmont, Colo., and another in Forest Lake, Minn., competed for the national title, with the Longmont restaurant winning.
Restaurants were judged by company executives.
