Taco John's goes 'old school' for breakfast

August 31, 2016

Taco John’s is taking breakfast old-school with a modern twist, adding a chicken-and-gravy breakfast burrito to the menu, according to a company press release.

The Mexican food brand said the offering blends traditional country breakfast of old — chicken slathered in sausage gravy — with a little of old Mexico, including potatos, cheese and hot sauce.

"As we expand across the country, offering innovative flavors is extremely important," said Taco John’s Chief Marketing Officer Billie Jo Waara. "We’re headed into some large, competitive markets, so offering something guests have never seen before could convince them to come in and see what we’re all about."

Waara said it tested extremely well, and by Sept. 5 it will have a permanent place on the menu.

"Consumers have more breakfast options than ever, but the chicken and gravy breakfast burrito offers the kind original flavor that makes us stand out from the rest of the pack. It really is unique," said Taco John’s Vice President for Menu Strategy and Innovation Bob Karisny in the release.
