Taco John's has announced plans to build 15 franchises throoughout Indianapolis. Michael House, real estate developer and operator of two BoomBozz Craft Pizza and Taphouse locations, has signed a five-store agreement with an option for an additional 10 units, according to a company press release. His Taco John's franchises will be the first in the Indianapolis area.
"Taco John's brings diversity to our company," House said. "There is an opening in the market for this type of industry. There's a plethora of guys doing burgers, but in the taco business — where we are in Indianapolis — you only have one main player. That's why I'm very excited about bringing Taco John's to Indianapolis. Mexican QSR customers are looking for that fresh, meaty taste they wouldn't find at any other brand of this type. The ingredients that go along with our meat are prepared right in the store. People in other cities have tasted the difference, and they're going to taste it in Indianapolis as well."
House, a longtime developer for Walgreens and Arby's, as partnered with Craig Harts, one of Subway’s earliest franchisees, to run the business.
"We put a good team together in operations," House said. "It wasn't something we did overnight. We wanted to expand what we have in place, and I wanted to utilize my real estate experience more. The guys I'm involved with have a lot of knowledge. We like the food and the concept, and I think we can be successful here."
Founded in 1969, Taco John’s has more than 380 restaurants in 27 states.
