Thai ag conglomerate set to make QSR push in Oz

August 18, 2014

Thai agriculture and food production giant Charoen Pokphand Foods, Thailand's fifth-largest company by revenue, is making a QSR push in Australia.

CP Foods is planning to roll out a chain of quick-service Thai restaurants that it plans to expand to hundreds of locations in coming years, before making a push to the U.S. Market, according to The Guardian U.K. and the Australian Financial Review, among other outlets. It recently opened its first 1000WAT in Melbourne's new Emporium shopping center, in premises shared with its local partners' Ramen Ya restaurant.

The company will cover the majority of the expected $2.5 million (AU) cost of building an additional five company-owned outlets in Victoria and New South Wales in the next two years before ramping up expansion, according to the AFR.
