Tim Hortons offering free samples of its new frozen hot chocolate

April 29, 2014

Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop has launched what it's calling its "official drink of summer." Frozen hot chocolate is now available in U.S restaurants and is made with real cream, blended with chocolate syrup and layered with chocolate whipped topping.

According to a news release, the frozen hot chocolate will be sold at U.S. restaurants only and retails for $2.49 for a 12-ounce small.

"Summer is all about enjoying a delicious frozen treat as you cool off from the heat and this year our one of a kind new frozen hot chocolate hits that mark," Mike Meilleur, EVP, Tim Hortons U.S., said in the release. "We know our guests won't be able to get enough of this cool, chocolaty treat all spring and summer long."

The company said the beverage tested well in its test phase. Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop restaurants will offer free samples of the product to any guest who requests one from now through June.

Also, to promote the new product, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop has introduced a "disorganized, but charming lifestyle expert named Tess Timmons." In a new campaign, Simmons lives in a literal world and is often confused about oxymorons, much like the term "frozen hot chocolate."

The brand's fans can follow Tess' haphazard lifestyle tips on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #TimsFroHoCho.
