Dunkin' Donuts may make a personal visit to your house next year, as the company rolls out plans for delivery, according toCNBC. Just on the tale of announcements from Chipotle, McDonald's and Starbucks to test delivery, Dunkin' Donuts joins the list, having also unveiled mobile ordering with Visa Checkout.
"Delivery is clearly a big opportunity," Dunkin' Brands Chairman and CEO Nigel Travis said in an interview with CNBC's "On the Money".
"We're now developing mobile ordering. We're doing a private test. We'll move to a more public test later this year," he said. "We'll probably launch mobile ordering sometime next year."
Travis also told CNBC of his interest in curbside delivery and considers delivery "the next frontier" in customer service.
"The trend in this country is convenience. So I think delivery plays very strongly," Travis said. "I think the next few years you're going to see us get more and more into delivery."
Travis stressed to CNBC that the company will not rush the launch.
"The key thing is we have to make sure we can operationalize all these procedures. That's why I've slowed up mobile ordering to make sure it's operationally simple at the store level."
