McDonald's hasn't touched its Happy Meal in 30 years, but today that ends — at least in the Tulsa market, as the giant chain kicks off a All Day Breakfast Happy Meal pilot at 72 restaurants in the Oklahoma city.
The new food test comes on the heels of the chain's proven success with the all-day breakfast concept for older folks, which has repeatedly been shown in market research to be a menu feature people tap at all times of day.
The new breakfast happy meal menu features new entrees, including a pair of McGriddle cake options and a new egg-and-cheese McMuffin, according to a press release.
"As we continue to listen to our customers, we've heard families say that All Day Breakfast is something they would like in their kids' Happy Meal as well," said Tulsa franchisee, McDonald's owner-operator, Kevin Hern, in the release.
In this breakfast version customers can choose their drink, as well as a choice of side options including apple slices, low-fat strawberry yogurt, or hash browns during breakfast hours or kids’ fries during lunch and dinner hours.
Though the chain said it will gauge the overall worthiness of this test on customer feedback, McDonald's did not disclose future plans for the test breakfast happy meals.
