Wendy's adds BBQ Pulled Pork to menu

BBQ lovers can try Wendy's new BBQ products and play an interactive game to unlock the secrets of BBQ "pit masters."

September 11, 2015

Wendy's has introduced its BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and BBQ Pulled Pork Cheese Fries. The sandwich contains premium pork shoulder, slow-smoked for hours with hickory wood, and is served with coleslaw and a choice of BBQ sauce on a toasted brioche bun, according to a company press release.

"We went to great lengths to make sure our customers could enjoy great BBQ at their local Wendy's," Wendy's Chief Concept Officer Kurt Kane said. "Everything in this product was inspired by a desire to create a new BBQ tradition for America by learning from the very best pit masters across the country. You can see it and taste it, from the quality of the meat to the way we apply one of the three amazing sauces. This BBQ is the real deal and will not disappoint."

Wendy's learned from BBQ experts that the best way to apply BBQ sauce is to drizzle it on top of the meat right before it's served, the release stated. Wendy's provides three custom sauces — sweet, smoky or spicy — for customers to choose from when they order.

Wendy's BBQ Pulled Pork Cheese Fries feature natural-cut fries, with a topping of cheddar cheese sauce, hickory-smoked pulled pork and diced red onions, and topped with a choice of three sauces.

Both menu items available for a limited time only.

Customers now have a chance to unlock the great BBQ pit masters’ mysteries for themselves by visiting YouTube.com/wendys to play Wendy's "Crack the Masters" interactive game.

The Wendy's system includes more than 6,500 restaurants in 29 countries and U.S. territories.
