Wendy's bets on beverages to 'basket' March Madness business

The "madness" — as in the basketball-centered March Madness that hits the U.S. each year — is just around the corner and, as the official hamburger of the NCAA, Wendy's is moving in to steal the ball and slam dunk related business.

Now through April 7,  the chain is offering customers that buy large cold beverages the chance to win free food, app credits or even possibly a trip to Atlanta for next year's Men's Final Four, according to a press release. 

Wendy's Take Your Shot promotion runs through April 7 and as the chain is Coca-Cola's launch partner for orange vanilla coke and its low-cal cousin, orange vanilla Coke Zero Sugar, the app-based promotion is particularly appropriate. The new Coke flavors are the beverage company's first in more than 10 years. 

Wendy's also said it will keep announcing new mobile offers throughout March Madness, giving those whose bracket choices were less than stellar ways to win prizes as well.
