Wendy's Father's Day Frosty Weekend to help foster children

June 16, 2009

TORONTO — This Father's Day Weekend (June 20-21), Wendy's is helping consumers treat Dad and help foster children at the same time. During Wendy's third annual Father's Day Frosty Weekend, the company will donate $1 from every Frosty product sold to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption - Canada (DTFA-Canada), a non-profit public charity dedicated to increasing the number of foster care adoptions in Canada. Also, customers can donate by purchasing a Frosty pin-up for $1 each.

After raising more than $370,000 in 2007 and 2008 during Father's DayFrosty Weekend, Wendy's remains committed to supporting the cause of fostercare adoption in Canada.

The money that is raised during the weekend will support the Dave Thomas Foundation and its signature program: Wendy's Wonderful Kids (WWK). In 2009, the foundation will add two more WWK recruiters to bring the total to seven serving Canada.

The success of WWK is due to the ongoing partnership between the DTFA-Canada, the Wendy's system of company and franchise operated restaurants and local adoption partners. The Foundation grants funds to qualified adoptionorganizations, and holds the agencies accountable for achieving agreed-upon results. The Wendy's system raises more than $670,000 annually to fund the local WWK programs.

In the United States, Wendy's will donate 50 cents to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to help find homes for more than 150,000 foster children.
