Wendy's customers in the Florida cities of Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa and West Palm Beach can sample the "Dave's Single" hamburger for 69 cents on Feb. 16, during regular restaurant hours of operation. The 69 cents is a nod to 1969, the year in which Dave Thomas founded Wendy's, according to a company press release.
The hamburger features Wendy's "fresh, never frozen" 100-percent North American square beef patty that's served off the grill. It has been recrafted with a bakery-style bun inspired by Dave Thomas' original recipe, and topped with premium produce like tomatoes, lettuce, red onions, crinkle cut pickles and a fuller-flavored mayonnaise. The hamburger is wrapped in foil to keep it extra hot, the release stated.
