Wendy's will give away free four-piece chicken nuggets to drive-thru customers this Friday nationwide in what the brand has dubbed its GroupNug, a news release said. In fact, the brand's often-ascerbic Twitter account voice has taken on a much nicer tone these days, in what the brand said is a transition from "Roast to Toast," which is celebrating team members and individuals nationally who are doing more than their parts to improve their communities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wendy's kicked things off Monday with a simple tweet asking others to join in on the toasts, including everything from all those parents-turned-teachers, grocery workers who still manage a smile and of course, health care workers.

The GroupNug giveaway is an extension of that mentality and a way for the brand to tell America, it's pretty cool.

"Wendy's restaurant teams across the nation have been living out one of Wendy's most important values — Do the Right Thing — by helping their communities wherever they can during this unprecedented time," said Wendy's U.S. CMO Carl Loredo, in the release. "These actions shine a light on so many individuals both in Wendy's and across the nation doing good for others. We want to show our appreciation with our GroupNug offer for the entire country."

Wendy's is based in Columbus, Ohio and has more than 6,700 restaurants worldwide.
