Wendy's CEO Todd Penegor announced in a blogpost that the company will increase hourly earnings for restaurant employees at company-owned locations. That means hourly crew members, shift managers and assistant GMs in those locations will get 10% more in hourly pay over the next five weeks. Additionally, the Columbus, Ohio-based burger chain said at its corporate-owned stores, it will protect part of the monthly bonus for April for GMs and district managers.

"As a small token of appreciation, we are also offering free meals for employees working in company restaurants, and discounted family meals for employees on their days off," Penegor said in the post.

The company has already announced an emergency paid sick Leave policy for company-owned store hourly employees, with GMs and district managers a eligible for monthly bonuses, with a guarantee that the company would "protect part of their monthly bonus for March, recognizing that their business performance has been impacted by factors beyond their control."
