Wendy's recognizes Top 200 GMs

The Wendy's Company recognized 200 outstanding general managers last week for extraordinary leadership, performance, operations excellence dedication and service to the brand. The brand is 95% franchise-owned and operated among its 6,700 units and it evaluated 537 GMs who met initial criteria for the Top 200, a news release said.

"Restaurant General Managers play one of the most important roles in our system and are the face of the Wendy's brand to our customers," said Todd Penegor, president and CEO "Our Top 200 general managers demonstrate leadership, excellence and a passion to Delight Every Customer every day, across every Wendy's restaurant across the globe."

A committee, comprised of franchisee and company leadership representing 175 U.S. leaders, along with 15 from Canada, and 10 from other international locations, selected the winners.

The average tenure of the Wendy's Top 200 GMs is 15 years, and more than 50 have been with the brand for 20 years. The Top 200 GMs hailed from 25 different countries from Albania to Trinidad and included a group of Top 10, or the "best of the best," who received special honors.

And at the top of that list, Covington, Georgia, store GM Carteina Riddick was honored as the No. 1 GM of the year for her oversight of the store at 4220 Salem Road in Covington, operated by Calhoun Management. 

The other nine Top 10 GMs were:

• Brookhaven, Mississippi, GM Rebecca Tate with Carlisle Corporation.
• Louisa, Kentucky, store GM Tiffany Jones with J.A.C.S., Inc.
• Shelbyville, Indiana, store GM Angie Davis with Better Food Systems, Inc.
• Niceville, Florida, store GM Luis Andujar with Carlisle Corporation.
• Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, store GM Dawn Schuler with The Wendy's Company.
• Woodland Hills, California, store GM Gabriela Torres with RDR Foods Inc.
• Greenville, Pennsylvania, store GM Colin Dickson with Primary Aim.
• Vancouver, Washington, store GM Cindy Eterno with Jorcody Restaurants, Inc.
• New York City store GM Maria Mejia with The Wendy's Company.
