Wendy's sells 39 company units

July 26, 2016

The Wendy's Company has completed a major sale of 39 restaurants in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina to NPC International. The sale includes four recently constructed restaurants, as well as additional amounts for working capital. NPC said in a news release that it will remodel some of those locations to the brand's new image activation format.

The acquisition is part of Wendy’s system optimization initiative which will reduce the number of company-operated restaurants to about 5 percent of the system. Wholly owned NPC subsidiary, NPC Quality Burgers, will operate the newly acquired restaurants. NPC International is the world's largest Pizza Hut franchisee with 1,232 of those restaurants, as well as delivery units in 28 states. It already has 184 Wendy’s locations in five states.
