Wendy's to collect donations for orphans in Haiti
February 10, 2010
Wendy's restaurants, in partnership with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, will collect donations from employees and customers to help the critical needs of orphaned children of Haiti. Customers can make donations in the coin canisters in participating restaurants from Feb. 10 - 28 or go to www.wendys.com and donate online.
"Wendy's and the Dave Thomas Foundation have a long tradition of helping foster children in need of loving, adoptive homes," said Denny Lynch, foundation president. "After learning about the thousands of Haitian children who lost their parents in the earthquake, we knew we had to act. Helping these children is the right thing to do."
Participating Wendy's restaurants in the United States and Canada will take part in the collection effort. The Dave Thomas Foundation will work with child-serving organizations that are addressing the critical needs of the orphaned children of Haiti.
After Feb. 28, canister funds will continue to support Wendy's Wonderful Kids, a signature program of the foundation, which directs monetary grants to hire adoption recruiters throughout North America to find adoptive homes for children in foster care.
