Wendy’s/Arby’s offers SSON tips

In less than a year, Wendy’s/Arby’s Group has built a shared services center at a new location with a new staff integrating to one enterprise resource planning platform (ERP).

Ed Martinez, vice president of shared services for WAG, will present a case study about his company’s efforts at SSON’s 11th annual Shared Services for Finance and Accounting, May 24-25 at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas.

The event will assist companies in creating a customized strategic plan to transform and add value to their finance and accounting departments by building proficient shared services centers.

Executives from PepsiCo, Walmart, Coors Brewing Company, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Nestle, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Hewlett-Packard also will speak about the fundamentals of efficiency, quality and service, and will demonstrate innovative ways to achieve finance transformation.

Specific areas of focus include:

• Driving efficiency:Building a value proposition outside of mere productivity to further improve quality and decrease costs
• Current trends: Debating in-house vs. outsourcing strategies and making sure organizations choose the right model and technologies for their business
• Process ownership: Continually improving shared service centers to enable growth
• Accelerating improvement: Re-engineering processes to move beyond labor arbitrage
