West Virginia woman sues McDonald's for slipping on ice

August 1, 2006

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Moundsville, W.V., woman is suing McDonald's for compensatory and punitive damages because she slipped on a patch of ice on a sidewalk in front of the restaurant.

According to the West Virginia Record, she has allegedly suffered serious personal injuries and has had difficulties paying medical expenses because of loss of income. She also complained of pain and suffering, and said she suffered from mental anguish.

This suit marks the second consumer-oriented lawsuit filed against McDonald's this year. In February, a woman alleged McDonald's falsely advertised that its french fries were milk- and gluten-free, and safe for people to eat them despite having dairy-centered dietary issues.
