Wetzel's Pretzels has opened a bakery in San Diego at the Navy Medical Center on Bob Wilson Drive. The facility is not open to the general public but is part of the brand's efforts to vary its formats and venues, a news release said.
As the twelfth Wetzel's Pretzels location in San Diego, franchise owner Eyal Reich will operate the bakery, which is the first of several planned this year for the brand.
"It's been a whirlwind two years since I've opened my first Wetzel's Pretzels location," Reich said in the release. He owns four other brand stores.
"Wetzel's Pretzels is the perfect versatile business opportunity – where else can you throw in water, dough and cheese to create a variety of delicious products?"
The company has also opened six stores this year across a multitude of venues, including malls, food trucks, stadiums and convenience stores. In 2020, Wetzel's opened 28 locations and is on track to open more than 30 locations this year.
The investment range for a Wetzel's bakery is between $180,000 to $480,000, and qualified owners must have a minimum of $100,000 in liquid capital to be considered. The brand has more than 300 fresh bakeries systemwide.
