It's been a quarter-century since McDonald's introduced its McFlurry, and the brand is hauling out a "birthday suit" for the frozen treat to celebrate.
The yellow, McFlurry-adorned limited-edition loungewear shorts and matching top have an insulated pocket presumably to stow a McFlurry when the wearer needs to have his or her hands free.
But this is a "while-supplies-last" offer to those first to respond at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, Sept. 25 and plunk down $25 for one of the suits, via McD's merchandise site, GoldenArchesUnlimited.com. It comes with Chips Ahoy!, Oreo or M&M McFlurries and includes a coupon for a free cup of the cold treat.
"From video-chat birthday wishes to home-made sign car parades, we know birthdays look a little different in 2020," David Tovar, McDonald's VP of U.S. Communications at McDonald's, said in the release. "As a go-to birthday party destination for generations, we knew we couldn't let 25 years of the McFlurry pass us by without a special celebration."
McFlurries got their start in 1995 when Bathurst, Canada McDonald's owner and operator, Ron McLellan, created the treat. Today, it's offered in areas around the world, the brand said.
