White Castle announced it will host a Turkey Slider Drop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at a White Castle in Cincinnati. The promotion is to celebrate the launch of its new turkey menu lineup with a tie-in to the iconic "WKRP in Cincinnati" television show's famous Thanksgiving episode, in which a WKRP radio station reporter watches as turkeys are dropped from the station's helicopter for a promotion. All involved thought turkeys could fly. White Castle fans outside of Cincinnati can also participate in the contest online through Twitter, according to a company press release.

Fifteen contestants, age 18 years and older, will have the opportunity to drop Turkey Sliders from the Crave Copter, White Castle's branded drone, onto various targets displayed on a Thanksgiving-themed table. Each target is worth a different prize value — from White Castle gift cards to one grand prize — free Sliders for one year.

"Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we wanted to do something a little different this year. We know WKRP resonates with a lot of folks, and the Turkey Slider Drop featuring our new Crave Copter is a fun way to put a modern twist on a classic," said Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle.

The first five people to show up for the game will be automatically entered to play. The remaining 10 contestants will be randomly selected by drawings held on location during the event. Each contestant will be outfitted with a head-worn video display that will allow him or her to view the target field from directly above via a camera attached to the Crave Copter, the release stated.

White Castle fans in and outside of Cincinnati who can't attend the event will be invited to participate online via Twitter and can follow along on Periscope (@whitecastle). Virtual contestants will be paired with live contestants for a chance to win prizes. The virtual contestants will be randomly drawn from those who respond to a specified Crave Copter Tweet that will be posted prior to the event (Nov. 9-13). Virtual contestants must respond prior to the event via Twitter direct message with their contact information (name, phone number and address) in order to qualify.

"We wanted to give our loyal Cravers outside of Cincinnati the same chance to win our selection of prizes," said Richardson. "Social media is an amazing tool that brings the event directly to them."

White Castle launched its new turkey menu items earlier this week. The new Turkey Slider trio features the Turkey Dinner Slider — a Butterball turkey burger topped with crispy Sweet Potato Waffle Fries and cranberry sauce on White Castle's bun. Other variations include the Bistro Turkey Slider, which features a Butterball turkey burger topped with a Bistro Sauce, and the Cranberry Turkey Slider — a Butterball turkey burger, topped with cranberry sauce. The featured turkey menu items are complemented by traditional sides like Sweet Potato Waffle Fries and the Cranberry Spritzer with Sprite.

White Castle is a family-owned business based in Columbus, Ohio, that owns and operates 390 restaurants in 12 states.
