White Castle celebrates city of Whiting, Indiana with slider giveaway

White Castle is celebrating the city of Whiting, Indiana. The slider chain is hosting Whiting Appreciation Day on March 12. The brand inducted the city into the White Castle Cravers Hall of Fame earlier this year, according to a press release.

The Whiting White Castle has been open since 1935, the company's first White Castle in the Chicagoland region.

On March 12, White Castle will hand out one free Original Slider to guests visiting the Whiting location between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. A limited number of commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase, with proceeds going to a center that provides programming and support for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.

"We value our partnerships with the city of Whiting and this is our way of celebrating a community that has been committed to the way of the Crave for nearly nine decades," Jamie Richardson, vice president at White Castle, said in the release. "The free Original Slider gives us a hot and tasty way to celebrate and say thank you."

White Castle is a family owned business with 340 restaurants as well as retail division.
