White Castle celebrating National Grandparents Day

White Castle's charitable outreach initiative, Castle Shares, will provide $500-savings bonds to five White Castle customers as part of its National Grandparents Day celebration.

White Castle will celebrate National Grandparents Day, Sept. 13, during the entire month of September, by giving five White Caste customers $500-savings bonds to put toward their education. White Castle's charitable outreach initiative, Castle Shares, will provide the savings bonds, according to a company press release. The promotion began Sept. 4.  

"As a family-owned business, we value the special bond grandparents and grandchildren share, and we understand the key role grandparents play in our lives," White Castle Vice President Jamie Richardson said. "Grandparents pass many valuable life lessons onto their grandchildren, from the love of the Crave to the importance of a good education. At White Castle, we're committed to celebrating grandparents and investing in our younger Cravers' futures."

Grandparents and grandchildren ages 13 and older are invited to submit their memorable moments, photos and videos on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #WCGrandparentsContest for a chance to win, the release stated. The contest ends Sept. 30, and White Castle will notify the 10 winners by Oct. 20.

In addition to the Grandparents Day contest, every White Castle will distribute up to 150 commemorative postcards to customers upon request. The postcards will allow White Castle customers to share their memorable moments with their grandparents or grandchildren across the U.S., the release stated.

"I have great memories of my grandparents — my grandmother Chlois, who let us snack on White Castle pickles whenever we had a road trip, and my Grandfather Edgar, who always took us to his favorite restaurant — the closest Castle," White Castle President and COO Lisa Ingram said. "Our mission at White Castle is to make memorable moments every day. Celebrating Grandparents Day is one more way we are able to do just that."

This is the fourth year White Castle will celebrate National Grandparents Day, and the first time the promotion will run for the entire month of September, the release stated.

White Castle is a family-owned business based in Columbus, Ohio, that owns and operates more than 390 restaurants in 12 states. The company was founded in Wichita, Kansas, in 1921.
