White Castle crowns griddle champ
June 26, 2007
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Susan Childress, a White Castle employee from Louisville, Ky., has won the title of the fastest griddler at White Castle for 2007. This is the second year in a row that Susan has won the competition.
Regional champs from the 12 White Castle operating areas met at the company's headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, to compete for the title of Fastest Griddle Champion. All hamburgers prepared by the Fastest Griddle contestants were donated to Faith Mission in downtown Columbus.
Contestants were tested on the amount of time it takes them to prepare and package 30 White Castle hamburgers. Bonus points were awarded for quality, accuracy and neatness.
This is the twelfth year for the event.
Each operating area holds a regional contest to select their top representative. The representative then travels to Columbus to compete against top contestants from the other regions.
Childress was awarded a $700 prize and a customized plaque and certificate. Second place winner Martha Brown received $500 and a certificate, and third place winner Nayna Kunjadia brought home $400 and a certificate.
