White Castle crowns its Fastest Griddle employee

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In celebrating its 85th anniversary, White Castle named the 2006 Fastest Griddle Champion, Susan Childress from Louisville, Ky.
According to a news release, this is the 11th year for the event that recognizes the workers on the front lines. Only non-management employees of the restaurants are eligible to compete. Contestants are tested on the amount of time it takes them to prepare and package 30 White Castle hamburgers. Bonus points are awarded for quality, accuracy and neatness.
Regional champs from the 12 White Castle operating areas met to compete for the title of Fastest Griddle Champion. The contest took place at the White Castle home office in Columbus. All hamburgers prepared by the Fastest Griddle contestants were donated to Faith Mission in downtown Columbus.
