White Castle exec to star in business reality series

December 21, 2009

White Castle is one of several companies to be featured in the new CBS series "Undercover Boss," which features executives working anonymously alongside their entry-level employees in hopes of gaining insights into their business, according to ads promoting the show.

The New York Times reports that Dave Rife — one of 12 members of the Ingram clan to work at and own part of the family-owned business — will take part in the reality series, which is scheduled to air Feb. 7 after the Super Bowl.

Rife, nephew to White Castle president president E.W. "Bill" Ingram III, had his first job in one of the chain's restaurants, as did many of his relatives. He worked behind the counter during high school, but as an adult, his focus has been on the company's other interests. He worked in the company's engineering and contruction divisions before becoming plant manager of PSB Co., a White Castle subsidiary that specializes in manufacturing stainless steel fixtures and equipment.
