White Castle is sinking — or perhaps we should say "sliding" — its teeth into National Burger Month with a retro tribute to the chain's 98-year-old square burgers. This month, according to a news release, customers will get lots of opportunities to land free sliders as well as a chance for a year's supply of the popular burgers in its Capture the Crave Instagram contest.
Customers who share their slider-related photos on Instagram in hopes of landing the 12-month Slider score, and the chain will choose 15 guest to receive Visa gift cards, coupons, bluetooth speakers, mobile phone camera lenses and more. All photo submissions must include #CaptureTheCrave, #Contest and @WhiteCastle to be eligible for the prizes. Photos will be judged, according to the brand, on "magnitude of the Crave, originality and quality of photography."
The brand is also going "Cowboy Western" on customers, encouraging them to wear Western apparel to stores on Wednesdays throughout May to get two free BBQ Original Sliders with any purchase. The barbecue offerings are part of the chain's limited-time barbecue offerings, including a Brisket Slider and BBQ Impossible Slider.
On May 15, stores will give out thousands of sliders and beverages in recognition of National Slider Day, while patrons can receive their choice of a free slider or a small Coca-Cola Freestyle with coupon accessed on the company website.
Two final items taking place at White Castle as part of the brand's Burger Month extravaganza include its 2019 call for entries into the Cravers Hall of Fame and the brand's USA Luge Slider Search, an off-season recruitment program developed in 1985, to discover future generations of USA Luge athletes.
For the Hall of Fame, nominees should exhibit either exceptional loyalty or boldness in reference to the brand.
For the Luge Search, two experts will host a series of free luge clinics in the brand's hometown of Columbus, Ohio, on May 4 and 5 before taking off on a nationwide tour to introduce youth to the sport of luge.
