White Castle to induct 13 'Hamburger Heroes' into hall of fame

October 25, 2006

COLUMBUS, Ohio — White Castle System Inc. will induct 13 new members into its Cravers Hall of Fame at a gala celebration at its home office in Columbus, Ohio, Oct. 26.

According to a news release, the Hall of Fame was established in 2001 to single out and honor the most loyal White Castle customers who submit their best "crave stories."

Nearly 300 entries were considered for this year's contest by a select review panel of White Castle team members. Contest rules require that "the submitted story is accurate and truthful, and reflects your honest opinions, findings, beliefs and experiences. Any entries judged not to be original will be disqualified."

Walter Thomas, from Indianapolis, Ind., told his story about his granddaughter Kris'tianna and her fond affection for the Slyder aroma. When Kris'tianna was only two months old, Walter discovered that the smell of our hamburgers provided a sense of comfort for Kris'tianna and calmed her when she was upset. In fact, Walter said that he went as far as to tease the child by taking the bag out of the room to see if in fact she would cry ... she did every time.

There are nearly 80 "Hamburger Heroes" from all over the country whose names are inscribed in the White Castle Cravers Hall of Fame, located at the White Castle home office in Columbus, Ohio.
