Wife of Carl's Jr. founder dies

NEW YORK — Margaret Heinz Karcher, wife of Carl Karcher, who founded Carl's Jr., died from liver cancer June 6. She was 91.
She served on the board of directors of Carl Karcher Enterprises Inc., a unit of CKE Restaurants.
Karcher and husband Carl bought a hot dog cart for $326 in 1941 and within a few years they owned four more stands in Los Angeles. In 1945, they moved to Anaheim, Calif,, and opened their first restaurant, Carl's Drive-In Barbeque, CKE said.
